Lawrence Isherwood 1918-1989

We own and have run  www.Isherwoodart.co.uk for many years whilst collecting this superb artist. His talent is undeniable and today he is finally receiving the recognition he deserves. Isherwood was a complex and colourful character and a true original. He was friends with LS Lowry and although struggling on the breadline, he remained a full time artist with total belief in his work. 

Isherwoods best works are fiercely collected. The bold and fiery brushstrokes of colour , his trademark and they are unmistakable. His  London scenes and native Wigan scenes are his most sought after. Prince Charles purchased one of his works. Isherwood had many solo shows country wide and exhibited in Europe, even holding a show at the Museum of Fine art in Malta during the 70's.

In 2007 an Isherwood painting of a bridge in Dartmoor broke his auction record at Bonhams in Chester, fetching over 8000 pounds.
